Ruby Farms was started by Warren and Anne Reuter in 1956. It began as a Christmas tree farm but eventually added a 300-seat restaurant, country store, cider mill, antique shop, 27-acre scenic lake and old-fashioned carousel. It also offered pony rides, a trolley-style, tractor-pulled wagon tour of the farm, and, at Halloween, a haunted hayride and Dracula’s Den spooky, monster-filled walk through the woods. Add to that a bakery, gift shop and petting zoo.
Warren passed away in 2009 and the site was closed by 2010 as the auction notice below indicates. It was a favorite of Michganders far and wide and the couple were loved by many for their efforts in keeping the place going all of those years.
