Nearly 100 years ago, the Jewish Agricultural Society helped Morris and Belle Fidelman purchase a fruit orchard in South Haven, Mich., and the barber and his wife soon moved their young family to 80 acres in the country…By 1930, the farmhouse was replaced with a building that could accommodate 150 guests, and Fidelman’s became one of the many Jewish resorts that drew thousands every year to South Haven, known as "The Catskills of the Midwest." The resort featured a tiki room, pool and cabana, theater, hotel and dining room. There were many activities scheduled for guests, and live music in the evenings.

Fidelman’s Resort was the most popular and largest of the Jewish resorts in South Haven, Michigan. This area was considered the “Catskills of the Midwest.” They described their property as “80 acres of instant happiness” and featured a swimming pool, tennis, golf, horseback riding, shuffleboard, superb food and nightly entertainment. It closed in 1985.
This resort goes back to 1920. The owners would advertise in out-of-town newspapers and promote the Jewish cuisine that was served there. St. Louis and Chicago were examples. There was a fire in 1955 and another one in 1981. The property changed hands in 1955 and was re-developed.
