Bay County: this village in Merritt Township was first settled in 1874 and named for Curtis and Algernon S. Munger, of Bay City, who owned the land around its Detroit & Bay City Railroad station. Horace D Blodgett became its first postmaster on June 6, 1876 [Gansser; GSM 1877; PO Archives]
