General Information:

River City Cinemas opened in the mid 1970's and closed by 1995. There are conflicting reports as to the status of the structure. Some indicate the theater was demolished to make way for what are now (as of 2022) a Panera Bread and Quatro's Italian restaurants. That happened in or about 2007. Others say the structure(s) were just heavily modified.

The historical aerial photography from 1973 on don't really indicate a complete tear down of the building but there are gaps in the record. I put together a quick comparison video to show the structures as of 1973 and 2022 so you can judge for yourself. If there was a demo they put the restaurants in the exact same spot. You can click the link right above this summary to view it.

Another issue of contention is if this theater was once a Jerry Lewis Cinema outlet. It does fit the profile in terms of its shopping center location and the kind of structure it was. I don't see a record of it on the master list of Jerry Lewis Cinemas. However, many owners built theaters with the intention of going with the Lewis chain but because of the massive problems, they later backed out. There were also other "mini theater" chains going at that time so this place could have been one of those. I found very little in the newspaper archives (a few ads) on this place so it's hard to know at this point.
