The Starlite Drive-Ins of Ludington/Scottville were indeed one and the same. The Starlite was the only Ludington-area drive-in, and was actually much closer to Ludington than Scottville. It was located at the corner of Pere Marquette Rd. and US-31/US-10. The now vacant site is behind a McDonalds and a Holiday Inn Express, and a portion of the site is used by a car wash. There is no evidence a drive-in ever stood there. The Starlites owner was Glen Wallace, who also owned the indoor Star Theatre in downtown Scottville. Thanks to Jim Nichols at the Nichols Drug Store in Scottville for clarifying this, and helping us find the exact location of the Starlite. The Nichols Drug Store is on Main St. directly across from the old Star Theatre in Scottville.

I worked for Glenn Wallace there in the early 70's in the ticket office, one of 3 jobs l had whole attending College. My wife worked in the concession stand as a second job. One summer, l hung off a rope pulley to paint the name on the back of the screen.

I'm positive the Starlite was still open at least through the summer of 1968 and still owned by the Wallaces as I was a projectionist there that summer. One of the movies we ran that summer was Hawaii, released in 1966. I took my mother and she watched from our car parked outside the booth door.

Hi! My Mom is from Ludington so as akid we would spend the summers in Ludington with my Grandparents. I saw my first PG rated file there "The Bad News Bears" They would also have Flea Markets there when somthing else was going on at the Fair Grounds. Sitting in the same spot right now is McDonnalds and the Holiday Inn Express. Ponchos Pond RV Park is back there too. It was a great place on a Summer Night!

A recent site inspection revealed nothing much is left, an empty lot with an electrical hookup behind a McDonalds and a Holiday Inn Express.

The Starlite was torn down. There is now a McDonalds on the site. Bobby Peacock
